“HERMANN NITSCH. 1960–1965”

25.03.–05.07.2026

The exhibition “HERMANN NITSCH. 1960–1965” was dedicated to the late artist's early work. Between 1960 and 1965, Hermann Nitsch developed a radical artistic language of remarkable consistency, thus laying the foundations for his entire body of work at a young age. The exhibition brought together over 100 works from this period, ranging from early “splatter paintings” and “poured paintings” to “relic montages,” and works from before 1960 that illustrate the transition from trained graphic designer to independent artist. The exhibition included numerous loans from the Jaegers Art Foundation and from the private collection of Dr. Gunther Jaegers.
